Research On The Diplomatic Language Of Shuo In Zuo Zhuan

There are abundant the diplomatic language of “Shuo” in Zuozhuan,which occupy a large proportion in Zuozhuan and have high research value.In this paper,the strong persuasive “shuo” rhetoric in Zuozhuan is taken as the research object,and its concept is defined,and it is comprehensively expounded from the perspectives of category,rhetoric and value.In addition to the introduction,the paper can be divided into four parts,as follows:Chapter one traces back to the origin,starting from the meaning of "Shuo",and analyses the evolution of the meaning of "Shuo" in the literature before the Spring and Autumn Period,the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period in chronological order,and defines the diplomatic language of "Shuo" in Zuozhuan.Chapter two classifies the words of "Shuo" in Zuozhuan.According to the criterion of whether the speaker corrects the listener’s words and deeds,the words of "say" can be divided into two categories: Strategy and Expostulation.Strategy is used by counsellors to advise and solve problems for the listeners.According to the intention of counsellors,it can be divided into positive and negative Strategy.Expostulation can be divided into direct Expostulation and distorted Expostulation according to the way of Expostulating.Chapter Three,on the basis of Chapter Two,probes into the rhetorical methods used in the diplomatic language of "Shuo" in Zuozhuan.Based on the classification of rhetoric methods in The Fair of Rhetoric,this paper makes a detailed analysis of the duality,parallelism,taboo,exaggeration,euphemism,metonymy,metaphor and quotation of the diplomatic language of "Shuo" in Zuozhuan.Chapter Four explores the literary value of "Shuo" in Zuozhuan.The narrative method of Zuo zhuan,which combines words with facts,has been praised all the time.It contains the speaker’s intention and can promote the development of things.Because "Shuo" rhetoric contains a strong will to persuade the other party,it plays a huge role in promoting the development of the story.The image of the characters is reflected in words and deeds.As the main body of "saying" words,the images of advisers and advocates are also vividly depicted.
