Vocabulary teaching in China plays a very important role in primary school English teaching.The six-step direct teaching mode(presentation-explanation-imitation-practice-feedback-application)has fallen behind in t1raditional teacliins.Primaiy English teachers in China have tried various ways to improve students' interest in learning English.But the effect is not satisfactory.Therefore,it is necessary to explore a teaching method to effectively improve pupils' interest in English vocabulary learning and English vocabulaiy score.Story teaching method has been proved to be a new and effective teaching method by the educational circles.This study takes the vocabulary teaching in primaiy school as the research direction,and aims to answer the follpwing questions:Can Story Teaching Method improve the students'interest in learning English vocabulary?Can Stoiy Teaching Method improve the students'vocabulary score?This study adopts the methods of questionnaires and experiments.The results lasted for 16 weeks of the pre-test and post-test of the experimental class and the control class.It is controlled by other irrelevant variables,such as number of students,initial students' interest in English and English ability.The experimental processing is divided into two levels:story-tel]ing teaching method and traditional English teaching method.The materials for the survey study are English textbooks for primary school published by People's Education Press.All the data is collected through pre-questionnaire,post-questionnaire,pre-test,post-test and analyzed by SPSS 19.0 statistical softwai'e.And interview is as supplementation at the end of the experiment to obtain more information about students' attitude to Stoiy Teaching Method.It is found that the interest of students in experiment class in leaviing English words is greatly improved after the experiment,and their vocabulary achievements are also better than that of control class.However,due to the limitations of this research,the author hopes further research can be conducted effectively to provide more practical suggestions for Story Teaching Method.With the development of the research,tlie advantages of Story Teaching Method is proved,but the application of it in vocabulary teaching for primaiy school students is still blank.So further research can verify the Mechanism validation of Psychology and Brain NeuroscienceAfter the experiment,it is found that the interest of students in experiment class in learning English words is greatly improved,and their vocabulary achievements are also better than that of control class.However,due to the limitations of this research,the author hopes further research can be conducted effectively to provide more practical suggestions for Story Teaching Method.
