This is a translation project report.The source text of this report is a part of Digital and Smart Cities co-authored by Katharine S.Willis and Alessandro Aurigi.The two chapters discussed the development of digital and smart city from the definition and approaches of digital and smart city,as well as the historical context.As an informative text,it possesses such linguistic features as objective,serious and strongly logical.There are many terms regarding urban studies,computer science,technical terms as well as long sentences which make the difficulties during the translation process.To solve them,the translator has adopted annotation,division,restructuring and other methods including dashes and brackets with the guidance of text type and communicative translation theories.The whole translation report consists of five parts.Chapter One gives an overall introduction to the project.Chapter Two provides the introduction to the background of the source text and linguistic features.Chapter Three presents the theoretical basis adopted in this report.Chapter Four discusses the translation difficulties and their corresponding solutions.Chapter Five concludes the lesson learned from the translation project and the problems to be solved.
