China is still in exploring and improving its own ways in building Smart City.To promote the Smart City construction,we need to learn from the advanced achievements made by other countries in the process of building Smart City. This is an E-C translation report on The Smart City and the Co-creation of Value(Chapter Five and Chapter Six),authored by Nobuyuki Tokoro. The translation material gives an expatiation on Smart City projects in Japan and the value co-created by enterprises in the process of project implementation, which can provide a reference for domestic researchers and is of certain significance to the construction of Smart City in China. The translation project report is divided into four chapters. The first chapter is an introduction of the translation project background, translation theories and objectives, and significance of the translation project. The second chapter is the introduction of source text, including its content and linguistic features. The third chapter deals with translation difficulties, such as terminology, long and complex structure, and passive voice, and translation methods. In light of the Functional Equivalence Theory, the translator uses some translation methods to solve problems encountered in the process of translation, such as diction, conversion of part of speech, addition, omission and syntactic restructure. The fourth chapter summarizes the enlightenment and unsolved problems in translation practice. This translation practice enables the translator to have a more in-depth understanding of the differences between Chinese and English, and the Functional Equivalence theory. The translator has a preliminary grasp of the stylistic features of scientific English and its translation methods, which lays the foundation for translation of scientific English in future.
