The Long March is a large-scale original and epic national opera adapted from the history of the Chinese Red Army,marking the 80 th anniversary of the great victory of the Long March of the Red Army.Produced together by a composer named Yin Qing,playwright Zou Jingzhi and director Tian Qinxin and Yang Xiaoyang over a four-year period,it was first staged at the National Centre for the Performing Arts on July 1,2016.Based on the background of the historical events on which the opera was produced,the paper aims to summarize the storyline from the perspective of time and space,and to clarify the importance of the small part named Wan Xia,the secondary leading role in the opera,as well as the representative meaning of the depiction.Also,it refers to a detailed analysis and exploration of arias performed by the role including Peach Blossom in the Heart and Snow,Snow,as well as the music form and her singing.Besides,efforts are taken to carry out a comprehensive study of sound,breath,emotion and performance to show the differences of performance in different scenes.As the paper shows,moreover,the dramatic way of singing highlights what the role wants to convey in the opera to analysis it better.
