A Practice Report On A Chinese-English Simulated Simultaneous Interpreting Of 9th Episode Of Guantianxia Lecture

At present,the competition between countries is far beyond economy and technology,cultural factor is more important than ever.In order to achieve the rejuvenation of the Chinese Nation,we need not only “Made in China”,but also“Culture of China”,so the cultural exchange between China and the West is a more pressing matter.This interpreting practice report is based on the 9th episode of Guantianxia Lecture,the strategic change of the world in next decade.The lecture included many detailed analysis on the development of the world’s major powers,and made forecast on what role those major power may play on the world stage for the next decade.The interpreter did the translation work as well as analyzed the translation process under the guidance of Functional Equivalence theory.This report aimed to solve problems in the interpreting process generated by cultural factors.It also aimed to provide examples for future interpreting practices.This interpreting practice report includes four parts.Part one is a brief introduction of the task.Part two is the interpreting process in detail,in which the interpreter introduced his preparations for the practice,some adjustments of the text,and a small summary of the interpreting process.Part three is the case study,in which the interpreter,under the guidance of Functional Equivalence theory,tried many translation techniques to solve the problems in the interpreting process.Part four is the summarization of the whole practice,in which the interpreter listed his feelings and experiences,and set the course for future studies.
