A Report On Terms In Simulated Simultaneous Interpretation Of Yixi Speeches Based On Functional Equivalence Theory

With the continuous exchange of Eastern and Western cultures and the development of new media technology,people are constantly using new media technology for cultural exchange.Taking advantage of Internet,knowledge-based video platforms have gradually flourished,and public speeches led by Yixi speeches have gained people’s attention.However,the language difference is still a barrier to cultural communication,so the interpretation for this kind of information-sharing material is crucial.This paper will focus on the interpretation of terms based on the functional equivalence theory.In this interpreting practice report,Rural Women’s Land Rights Issues by Lin Lixia and The Birth of a Post-Breast Cancer Underwear by Yu Xiaodan are selected to study the terminology interpretation.Both speakers share solutions from their professional perspectives,and these solutions are highly specialized.This practice report focuses on the terminology interpretation to propose solutions for similar problems.This report is a simulated simultaneous interpretation practice report,and Nida’s functional equivalence theory is adopted as the theoretical guide for this interpretation practice.By combining theory with case analysis,the interpreter analyzes the features of the speech text and the difficulties in the interpretation task,and summarizes the interpretation practice in three aspects: lexical equivalence,stylistic equivalence,and syntactic equivalence.At the same time,the interpreter proposes solutions to the difficulties and problems and looks forward to future research directions.Through this interpreting practice and report writing,the interpreter has accumulated the skills and methods of using functional equivalence strategy in specific interpreting and strengthened its application,which provides a guiding direction for the interpreter’s improvement in interpreting learning and hopes to provide a learning reference for other interpreting learners.At the same time,it is hoped to draw attention to the difficulties of women and call on people to help the minority groups.
