With the acceleration of the globalization process, cultural exchanges among countries around the world have become increasingly frequent.Especially with the rapid economic development, culture and language factors have gradually become valued by people. The so-called soft power competition is mainly the competition among all kinds of culture and language. The Forbidden City is a masterpiece of Chinese long history and culture. However, due to the ages and changes in the times,a large number of ancient artifacts were damaged in varying degrees. In order to rejuvenate these ancient artifacts, cultural relic repair workers came into being. The documentary Masters in Forbidden City truly tells the story of the extraordinary work of skilled relic restoration experts in the restoration of damaged ancient artifacts in the Forbidden City. This practice report is based on the simulated simultaneous interpretation of the documentary Masters in Forbidden City under the guidance of the functional equivalence theory of the American translation scholar Nida for Chinese-English interpreting practice. It mainly studies the influence of culture and language factors on interpreting so as to solve the problems caused by the differences in Chinese and Western cultural factors in the process of interpreting, thus making interpreter's interpreting process smoother and the interpretation more accurate. This practice report is divided into four parts. The first and second parts are task description and task process respectively. The main content and process of this interpreting task are introduced in detail. The third part is about the translation theory and related case studies. The theory is combined with examples to focus on solving some problems in the process of interpreting due to culture and language factors. In this section, the writer explains in detail the causes of the problems and solutions, and also lists some practical methods of interpretation. The last part is the summary after the interpreting practice. The writer mainly summarizes the problems in the process of interpreting and related solutions, which lays a solid foundation for in-depth research in the future.
