On Interpreting Strategies Of International Business Negotiation From The Perspective Of Eco-translatology

With the ever-accelerating economic globalization,the role of interpreting in international business negotiation(IIBN)is becoming increasingly crucial in promoting international businesses.Applying the methods of case study,literature study,as well as comparison and contrast,this thesis conducts a research on IIBN from the perspective of Eco-translatology.Based on the theory of Eco-translatology,the author elaborates some significant notions like the essence of interpretation,interpreting eco-environment and interpreter-centeredness and illustrates the specific applications of Eco-translatology in interpreting studies in terms of interpreting process,interpreting principles and interpreting methods,aiming at analyzing the interpreter ’s selection and application for interpreting strategies in IIBN on the basis of three-dimensional transformation.From the perspective of Eco-translatology,the interpreting methods can be summarized as “multi-dimensional transformations”,especially the adaptive selections in three dimensions,namely linguistic dimension,cultural dimension and communicative dimension.However,the three dimensions are intertwined and mixed,mutually supplementary and dependent with one another in interpreting practices.According to Eco-translatology,most interpreting strategies and methods can be interpreted as interpreter ’s optimizing choices to adapt to the interpreting eco-environment.Therefore,in IIBN practices,interpreters need to dynamically adjust their strategies to pursue the balance among the three dimensions to smooth the international business negotiation(IBN).On the basis of three-dimensional adaptive selections,this thesis tries to elaborate the interpreting strategies of IIBN.At linguistic dimension,this thesis discusses that interpreters in IBN need to apply proper strategies to achieve the transformation in terms of linguistic forms fromlexical,syntactic and rhetorical levels.At cultural dimension,interpreters should actively adapt to specific interpreting eco-environment and optimize relevant strategies to transmit and paraphrase the cultural connotation behind the source language.At communicative dimension,interpreters ought to employ appropriate strategies to transfer the communicative intentions in the source language in line with specific interpreting eco-environment so as to facilitate the communication between negotiators.By analyzing the interpreting strategies of IIBN from the perspective of Eco-translatology,the author hopes that the related conclusions of this thesis,to some extent,can provide some references for the interpreting practice of IIBN.
