Jiulio Aleni is the most outstanding person in the second generation of missionaries after Matteo Ricci.On the one hand,Aleni inherited the route of Matteo Ricci's academic missionary,he wrote books which related to western geography,mathematics and religion,and brought new scientific and philosophical ideas that different from traditional Chinese culture.It attracted a large number of enlightened scholars who are concerned with western culture.On the other hand,Aleni went into Fujian,spread Catholicism to everywhere,and made great contribution to promoting the Catholic Church in Fujian,and was called the first missionary in Fujian.He not only inherited the adaptation strategy of Matteo Ricci,but also consciously or unconsciously used a series of localization strategies.This article mainly focuses on the three aspects of his missionary work,hoping it will be helpful to the education of Chinese as a foreign language or the establishment of the overseas Confucius college through the analysis of his missionary strategy.First,the preface describes the reason and value of this topic,and briefly introduces Aleni's outstanding contribution of communication between Chinese and Western culture.In addition,it summarize the studies on Aleni and missionary's Missionary strategies at home and abroad.The first chapter mainly discusses that Aleni inherited the route of former missionaries' academic missionary,learning Chinese and Chinese culture actively in order to achieve cultural identity.In addition,he combines Confucianism with Catholicism perfectly,explain the difficult doctrines to the Chinese people.The second section mainly analyzes hisChinese books which are plentiful and high quality,through this way he narrowed the distance from the Chinese intelligentsia.The second chapter mainly discusses the localization of their missionary objects and routes.In order to obtain the support of the local society,Aleni chooses the grass-roots route according to the characteristics of the late Ming society and the complex family interpersonal relationship in Fujian,he had a good relationship with the lower class in Fujian through the exchange of poetry,academic attraction and other methods,playing their role as propagandist and practitioner in missionary work.The third chapter mainly discusses the localization of its expression form.In order to facilitate the understanding of the Chinese scholars,Aleni used the popular expression form of telling stories in the late Ming Dynasty,in addition,he also usd the Chinese metonymy,chose the popular woodcut prints in the late Ming Dynasty,and added the elements of Chinese characteristics to the background of the image and the image of the characters.The last part mainly discusses the significance of its missionary strategy to the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language.Although it is different from the religious communication,foreign language teachers are actually a kind of cultural missionaries.The localization strategy of Aleni suggests that we must be familiar with local language,then integration into our students' cultural circle,and select the appropriate teaching methods.Secondly,we should know and respect their social norms,habits and taboos.Finally,we ought to select localized material as an example of classroom presentation from the perspective of learners.
