The number of interpreting activities is increasing day by day since China is getting involved in more and more external exchange.Study of interpretation is conducive to improving the quality of interpretation and the communication between China and other countries, and study of interpreter's subjectivity allows us to better understand the process of interpretation.Subjectivity, the nature of a subject shown by the subject's objective activities,is the externalization of a subject'essential power in objective activities,i.e.the subject's ability to actively remold and affect the object so as to obtain the latter's service.Since subjectivity has subjective initiative as well as passivity, this essay intends to study the embodiment of an interpreter's subjectivity in interpretation, and to explore the constraints and methods to improve it.The author takes an interpretation task she completed as an example, analyzes the embodiment of interpreter's subjectivity--interpreter's understanding of speaker's meaning, prediction of audience's comprehension capacity and grasp of turn-taking among attendees, sums up the subjective and objective factors that constrain interpreter's subjectivity and puts forward strategies to improve it.The author holds that only by doing full preparation and lifting interpreter's specialty literacy and improvisation can he/she enhance his/her interpreting competence.
