This is a report on a translation project,the original text is selected from a full-length war novel All the Light We Cannot See(excerpts)written by Anthony Doerr,an American writer.War literature,war novel in particular,has been one of the hot topics in translation field in recent years,but barely has been discussed the translation process and translation strategies from the perspective of communicative translation theory.Under the guidance of communicative translation theory,this paper reports main difficulties that encountered in the translation process and also puts forward solutions respectively.The report is made up of 5 chapters.Chapter one is a brief of background and the significance of the project.Chapter two introduces the main contents as well as the linguistic features of the source text.Chapter three focuses on Newmark's text typology and communicative translation theory.Chapter four,the most important part of the report,focuses on the encountered difficulties on lexical level,syntactic level,discourse level and cultural understanding level and then puts forward corresponding solutions.The last chapter is the conclusion.
