In recent years,a large number of English popular fictions have been published in English spoken countries, which are pursued by many fans, but the readers in China couldn't read them timely. Therefore, the author chose The Longest Ride as the practice of translation. This novel was written by the famous American best-selling novelist Nicholas Sparks, which was published in September 2013.The report is based on the translation practice of Chapter 1,Chapter 5 and Chapter 8 from The Longest Ride and is guided by Newmark's Text Typology and his Communicative Translation Theory.Under the guidance of these theories, the author hopes to study and discuss the translation strategies and methods of popular fictions. The selected chapters tell the story of Ira Levinson,a ninety-one-year-old man.He had an accident on the way to Black Mountain, where he and his wife had spent honeymoon. When he was in a coma for 48 hours,he saw the ghost of his dead wife, who died nine years ago.Ruth encouraged him to insist on and they recalled the best life they spent together in their dialogues. The report is divided into five chapters.Chapter one is the introduction of the translation project.Chapter two illustrates the translation theory.Chapter three records the whole translation process.Chapter four is the analysis of the cases, which are mainly based on the lexical syntactic and cultural level.Chapter five is the conclusion. It is the summary of the whole translation project.
