As one of the contents of discourse teaching,Chinese complex sentences is an important turning point for international students to learn Chinese from use Chinese,whose type is various,meaning is rich,and usage is diverse.It deserves our more attention in teaching Chinese as a second language.The complex sentences written in the textbooks are the first-hand materials for foreign students to study,and their scientificity and practicality are particularly important.This paper compares the types of complex sentences,conjunction words and arrangement method of Developing Chinese and New Practical Chinese Reader,based on Huang Borong and Liao Xudong's Modern Chinese,and summarizes the conjunction words in the New Chinese Proficiency Test Syllabus.Then we provide suggestions for the complex sentences of the textbooks and the conjunction words of the Syllabus,which will help teachers and students get a better understanding of the textbooks,and provide reference for the preparation of Chinese textbooks for the future.This thesis is divided into five chapters: The first chapter is the introduction,explaining the origin of the topic,literature review,research significance and method,object of research.The second chapter studies names and definitions of the complex sentences of Developing Chinese and New Practical Chinese Reader according to the division and interpretation in Huang Borong and Liao Xudong's Modern Chinese.We find that the definition of complex sentences of Developing Chinese is easier for foreign students to understand.The third chapter compares conjunction words in Developing Chinese,New Practical Chinese Reader and New Chinese Proficiency Test Syllabus,which contains 101 conjunction words.We believe that Developing Chinese is more in line with the requirements of New Chinese Proficiency Test Syllabus.But all of them need to be further improved in the inclusion of conjunctionwords.The fourth chapter compares Developing Chinese and New Practical Chinese Reader from the interpretation of complex sentences,the selection of examples and exercises,and points out the advantages and disadvantages of the two sets of textbooks.The fifth chapter summarizes the compilation characteristic of the complex sentences and conjunction words in Developing Chinese and New Practical Chinese Reader,and comes up with suggestions from different aspects for disadvantages.
