The source text of this translation practice report comes from the book titled Aging: Concepts and Controversies. From the perspective of functional equivalence put forward by Eugene A.Nida, the present thesis attempts to conduct a study on E-C translation techniques of the source text at the lexical, syntactical, textual and stylistic level. The Functional Equivalence theory holds that translating means conveying the message, and reproducing the style of the source text by the closest and most natural language. This thesis,in light of the Functional Equivalence theory, discusses translation techniques such as amplification, finding the exact translation of proper nouns and the connotative meaning of words for the lexical equivalence, restructuring, sentence splitting, turning static sentences into dynamic sentences, converting passive voice into active voice for the syntactical equivalence, cohesion and coherence for the textual equivalence, and achieving the stylistic equivalence. This thesis reaches a conclusion that the closest, most natural and equivalent translation of such informative text can be achieved in accordance with the functional equivalence.
