A Report On The Application Of Amplification In The Translation Of American Health Law

This translation text is an excerpt from title 42 of the United States Code,which regulates primarily the public health and welfare legal system.The translation text introduces in detail the legislative provisions and relevant measures of the United States in the field of public health and welfare.The translation and exploration of this text can not only provide some reference for the relevant legislation in China,but also enhance the legal cultural communication between the two countries.In view of the differences in legislative techniques,culture and expression habits,the translation can not achieve word-to-word correspondence.In the process of translation,the translator should ensure that the target text is faithful to the original information and take into account the needs of the target readers so as to make the target text conform to the Chinese habit of expression.Therefore,the author chooses amplification to guide the translation of the text,adding the implied information in the source text to ensure the accuracy of the translation.Based on Nida’s theory of functional equivalence,this report selects amplification to guide the translation of the text,and appropriately adds information to the original text from three aspects of semantics,logic and grammar.Appropriate use of the amplification can achieve the maximum information equivalence between the original text and the translated text,ensure the accuracy of the translated text,and faithfully convey the information of the original text(especially the original intention of legislation).
