A Study On The Three-volume Version Of The Collected Works Of Ye Shengtao

Ye Shengtao is a renowned Chinese litterateur,educator and editor.As a litterateur,he promoted the development of modern literature by continuous writing from the early 1920s;as an educator,he was brave to go in front of others to make constant reform and innovation in the educational system;and as an editor,he was enormously cautious and conscientious to engage in every procedures of the editing work.The three-volume version of The Collected Works of Ye Shengtao collected and edited by himself,published by the People's Literature Publishing House not only represents his novel level but also makes great contributions to promote,spread and standardized normative language as the works fused with his multiple identities.This thesis is mainly going to make a comparison between the works in the three-volume version and the original version of The Collected Works of Ye Shengtao.Through longitudinal comparison,the changing “trace” in the three-volume version can be recognized,so as to restore the language modification process of the three-volume version,from which we can deepen our understanding to the author's modification process and dig out the reasons behind the modification by language comparison to explore valuable content.In a word,this thesis is trying to retrospect,compare and analyze the three-volume version from the perspective of Edition Study,display its literary value and practical meanings macroscopically and microscopically,so that people's attention to book versions can be aroused.The whole thesis can be divided to three chapters besides the introduction and conclusion,the details are as follows:The first chapter starts from the angel of retrospecting and organizing the changes of the three-volume version to reveal the version publishing condition at all stages of the works collected in the three-volume version,on this account can the understanding of the change process of the three-volume version be deepened.To be more specific,it's starting from the articles collected in the three-volume version and the evolution of the anthology editions edited and published in each stage to organize the forming process of the three-volume version and present its changing form in the new literary version.The second chapter mainly focuses on the comparison between the differences generated by the modification of the three-volume version from the original version.Through careful comparison,it can be found that not only the language in the original version has been intensively altered,the textual idea and structure are also affected.Therefore,this chapter analyzes from the differences of ideas,structures and language to explore the author's whole modification process and the track of idea,structure and language changing.The third chapter discusses the modification reasons of the three-volume version of The Collected Works of Ye Shengtao on the basis of the first chapter and the second chapter.The analysis is mainly conducted from three aspects: “version of collected works” phenomenon,the author's editing idea,and standardized Chinese and the popularization of mandarin,to state the influences by the above factors on the forming of the three-volume version.
