Ye Shengtao is the famous educator, litterateur and editor in China. Given his multiple identities, this thesis starts with the analysis of his literary works, discusses the relationship between his different professional identities and specific writings, as well as explores deeply the interactive effect among "multiple identities". In addition, the thesis also concludes his complex identity and explores how every identity affects each other. This thesis can be divided into four parts. The first part mainly expounds Ye Shengtao’s literary creation, and explores how he as a writer was influenced by his identities of editor and educator. The second part mainly analyzes the editor identity and the influence of the writer identity on his editing. Furthermore, in this part, the author also studies the effects of Ye’s education practice for many years on editing as well as has made the preliminary description about his educational novels by text. In the third part, through the analysis of Enlightened Mandarin Textbook and Ni Huanzhi and other important works, we can have a better understanding of the characteristics of Ye’s educational thoughts, so as to explore the effects of his editor and writer identities on the education activities. In the fourth part, the author mainly studies that the relationship among "multiple identities" results in influences and restricts to the creation of individual behaviors. With respect to the specific research on a particular writer, more attentions on his/her multiple identities, multiple careers and their relations are significant in accurately defining the author himself/herself and his/her creative work.
