| As a universal carrier of language and information exchange,English has been paid more and more attention by society and individuals.As an important part of national basic education,English in primary school is the beginning for most children to contact and learn English.Therefore,primary English education has become the focus of people’s attention.Vocabulary teaching is an important part of English teaching and learning,which is more important than grammar for students in primary school,especially the third and fourth grade students.Therefore,it is necessary for teachers to help students master words effectively in the way they like.Otherwise,students may lose interests and confidence in learning English.For English teachers,how to stimulate students’ interest in learning English is an important task in primary English teaching.Confucius said,"Those who love it are are better than those who know it,and those who delight in it are better than those who love it." Integrating the game into vocabulary teaching,students can not only complete the teaching task,but also experience the fun of learning.In the New Curriculum Standard for Primary English(2011),it is emphasized that vocabulary teaching should be flexible and diversified,and that students should not only learn to memorize.It is necessary to develop students’ comprehensive competence to use language,and also it is important to pay attention to students’ emotion and attitude.Students in primary school have a strong curiosity about new things,and also have a strong ability to accept and understand,so English teaching should be carried out through English activities such as playing games and learning to sing English nursery rhyme,which makes it easier for students to input language in a relaxed and pleasant environment.So it is necessary to explore how to apply the game to English vocabularyteaching in primary school.In the research,the author has proceed a three-month experiment on the fourth grade’s students,who are in the Lian Hu Primary School of Fu Ping County,and starts the experiment on October 8,2018 and ends the experiment on December 31,2018.Before the experiment,the questionnaire survey was conducted on the two classes and it was found that most of the students like to learn English but are not interested in vocabulary learning.The experiment begins with the introduction of games into vocabulary teaching in the experimental class and the traditional vocabulary teaching method in the control class.At the end of the experiment,the students received a test and the students in the experimental class were investigated for the second time.The results showed that there is no significant difference in the score between the control class and the experimental class before the experiment.After the experiment,there is a significant difference in the score between the experimental class and the control class,and the average score of the experimental class is significantly higher than that of the control class.Before and after the experiment,there is no significant difference in the score of the control class,but the score of the experimental class is obviously improved.According to the results of the questionnaire,most of the students like to integrate games into vocabulary teaching.Moreover,their self-confidence is enhanced in the process of participating in games activities,and they become interested in English vocabulary learning.Through the experiment,this study draws the following conclusions:1)Applying the game to English vocabulary teaching,most students experience the joy of success and the importance of team cooperation.Their interest in English vocabulary learning is stimulated,at the same time,games activities enhance their self-confidence.2)The second test was carried out in the experimental class and the control class.There is a significant difference in the score between the experimental class and the control class,and the grade of the experimental class is obviously higher than that of the control class.Therefore,games are helpful to improve the students’ English vocabulary scores. |
