The Relationship Between Dormitory Interpersonal Relationship,Coping Style And Loneliness In College Students

The 19 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China clearly put forward that it is time to strengthen the construction of psychosocial service system and cultivate self-esteem,self-confidence,rational,peaceful and positive social mentality.As a large group of social members,college students' mental health education is an important part of the psychological service system.It is needed to pay attention to the college students' developmental psychological problems and enhancing college students' self-management,so that they can promote better growth and have effective learning and lives.Most of college students,who come from different places,have different kinds of habits,characteristics,culture,and thoughts,which will cause conflicts and contradictions easily in each other.At that time,how to solve the problems will affect the harmony of dormitory interpersonal relationship,even the feelings of individual loneliness.Therefore,the relationship between the dormitory interpersonal relationship,coping style and loneliness among college students are the heated research direction for scholars and the key points for schools,societies and countries.This study will explore how coping style plays a role between college students' dormitory relationships and loneliness,testing its mediating effect,and analyzing whether the model is in accordance with reality or not.977 college students from five universities in Guangxi are taken as experiment objects in this study.The study uses the UCLA Loneliness Scale(third edition)compiled by Russell and Cutrona,the Simple Coping Style Questionnaire(SCSQ)compiled by Jianing,and the Comprehensive Diagnostic Scale of College Students' Interpersonal Relationship,which was revised by Yang Rong,to conduct a questionnaire survey.Meanwhile,it also uses SPSS and AMOS software for statistical analysis and modeling of data,the results are as follows:(1)The problems of dormitory interpersonal relationship in college are fewer in the whole,but there are significant differences in gender and the only children,which are as follows:?The problem of male students' dormitory interpersonal relationship are more significant than female students;?The roommate support disturbance of only child is significantly higher than that of non-only child.(2)The average score of positive coping style is higher than that of negative coping style,and there are significant differences in the following demographic variables:(1)Boys' coping style scores are significantly lower than those of girls';(2)The only child' coping style scores are significantly lower than the non-single's;(3)The coping style of art major students is significantly higher than that of science and engineering students;(4)The coping style of freshmen is significantly higher than that of sophomore and junior students.The coping style of senior students is significantly higher than that of sophomore and junior students.(3)College students' loneliness is higher than the average level.There are significant differences in demographic variables,which are as follows:(1)The level of loneliness of boys is significantly higher than that of girls;(2)The loneliness of science and engineering major students is significantly higher than that of liberal arts students;(3)The loneliness of sophomore and junior students is significantly higher than that of senior students.(4)College students' dormitory interpersonal relationship disturbance,coping style,and loneliness are significantly correlated with each other.There is a significant positive correlation between the dimensions of dormitory interpersonal relationship and loneliness;there is a significant negative correlation between coping style and loneliness;there is a significant negative correlation between the dimensions of dormitory interpersonal relationship and the positive coping style,and there is a significant positive correlation with the negative coping style.(5)Interpersonal relationship disturbance and coping style in college dormitory can significantly predict loneliness.The conversational factors in dormitory interpersonal relationship and the positive response in coping style are the most important predictors of loneliness.(6)The interpersonal disturbance of college students' dormitory can directly predict the feeling of loneliness,and indirectly predict the feeling of loneliness through coping style.
