This translation report is based on the translation practice of the fourth chapter to the sixth chapter of Pevsner: The BBC Years. The translation practice belongs to the translation of biographical texts. The author classifies and summarizes the difficulties encountered in the translation process, and seeks translation strategies through different ways to solve the translation problem. The book records the history of Pevsner and the BBC.This text belongs to biographical texts in documentary literature. It also has a certain literary character on the basis of real historical record.Based on the characteristics of this text, the author emphasizes literariness of the text while ensuring the accuracy of the translation.Literariness includes both self-referential and rhetoric.Self-referentiality is mainly manifested by the phenomenon of syntactic deviation such as inverted sentences and circular sentences;the meaning of rhetoric is mainly reflected in rhetoric. The author summarizes the translation problems encountered in the reproduction of literariness in texts from the translation of two kind of sentences: the inverted sentence and the periodic sentence, and the translation of three rhetorical devices:metaphor, simile and synecdoche. For all kinds of translation problems, the author realizes the translation of the circular sentence and the inverted sentence by retaining the whole sentence focus to the end.As for the three rhetorical devices, which include metaphor, simile and synecdoche, the author use meta-translation and other means according to their characteristics to express the meaning of the sentence in a literary way,in order to achieve literariness for the translation.By writing this translation report, the author hopes to provide some reference for translators engaged in the translation practice of similar texts in problem prediction and solutions to translation problems.
