The translation report is based on the first, third and fourth chapters of The Owl Who Liked Sitting on Caesar: Living with a Tawny Owl.The writer recalled the wonderful and unforgettable fifteen years with his beloved tawny owl.As a memoir, the source text has the characteristics of both the informative text and expressive text.Based on the faithful translation of the source text, the writing style, emotions and opinions should be conveyed to the fullest extent. The image representation of the main characters(i.e.,the tawny owl and the writer)has been a translation difficulty of research value. If literal translation is used, the translation would not evoke vivid images of the two main characters, nor embody the writing style, emotions and opinions of the writer to trigger the empathy of target text readers. When choosing words in translation, the meaning of a sentence in each context and the perspective of recipients should be taken into consideration, with the textual style preserved based on faithfulness. For different cases, free translation and translation skills such as additional translation, division and conversion and methods including specification and extension are adopted.Through the translation practice, the translator has a better understanding of literary language and the memoir style. Therefore,it is hoped the translation strategies in the report would be helpful for those who focus on the translation of such texts.
