The translation report is based on the eighth to eleventh chapters of the memoir text My Days.It analyzes and summarizes the translation problems encountered in the process of translation practice, and proposes problem-solving translation strategies and translation techniques on the basis of analyzing the characteristics of the text. The translation source text is an autobiography written by Indian novelist R.K.Narayan.This book serves as a memoir of the author,in which the author describes the changes that he and his relatives have experienced from childhood to middle age.In the chapters selected, the author mainly expresses his devotion to his writing career, satire on Indian bureaucracy, and his deep love for his dead wife. Therefore, the theme and subject matter have made source text full of emotions, creating great difficulties for translator to represent the emotions in the translation. In order to better represent emotions in the original work, the translator exerts the theory of stylistic markedness and uses translation strategies such as domestication, foreignization and translation techniques like conversion of parts of speech, extensions, addition, etc.to represent the original emotion.By writing of this translation report, the translator has gained some experience in translating biographical texts. In addition, the author realizes that the translation of the text is not just the equivalence of words and sentences, faithful to the original message, but more importantly, the emotional representation of the original. With the help of the stylistic markedness theory in the translation of biographical texts, the original emotions are fully displayed to solve the difficulties encountered by the translator in Chinese translation. At the same time,it is hoped to provide some reference for later translation of similar texts with strong emotional color in the future.
