As a special form of literature,memoir has high historical value.In modern society,it becomes a new trend that successful persons in different fields recall the past by writing a memoir.The current author chooses Shoe Dog: A Memoir by the Creator of Nike,which is written by Nike's creator Phil Knight,as a translation practice material,and the translation undoubtedly has a certain practical significance.Some content of the memoir reveals a period of real history.The original author of memoir usually wishes to reveal the details of original history by a review so as to give more enlightenment to the later generations.The current author wishes to help domestic readers with a preliminary understanding of Phil Knight and the social condition in decades before.The report firstly introduces the purpose,significance and general structure of the report;after that,a description of the translation practice is carried out,including background of the task,target readers and requirements for the translator;the third part is a description of the translation process,including pre-translation analyze,translation process,quality control and possible difficulties.The fourth part,i.e.case analysis,is the focus of this report.In this part,the current author generalizes the difficulties she has encountered and the solutions thereof in lexical,syntactic and rhetoric levels.Last but not least,the current author summarizes the significance of this report,and also points out the limitations of the report.The current author gains the following three insights from the report: 1)The suggested solutions to the difficulties in the translation of memoirs exiting in the lexical,syntactic and rhetorical levels are as follows: for the translation of culture-loaded words and slangs,the translator should dig out the deep cultural backgrounds and connotations of such words before translation;for the translation of attributive clauses and complex sentences,the translator should first of all clarify the logic of the source language;for the translation of figures of speech such as metaphors and parallelism,the translator needs to choose to keep or change the source language figures in light of the specific linguistic and cultural contexts,making flexible use of translation skills.2)From the perspective of text-function,memoir,as an element of autobiography,is a special type of expressive text with its own features.For this reason,the translation of such expressive texts should respect the original author's personal effusion,and it is advisable to adopt the semantic translation in the translation process.3)The completion of a translation is not independent of an analysis of the source text,and the translator should adopt proper translation methods according to the type of source text.Multiple types of translation methods should be used in the translation of the same one text,so the translator should make some necessary adjustments in the translation.
