Ouyang Xiu,as a master of literature,played a great role in the inheritance of Confucianism.After the development of the late Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties,"Wen" and "Tao" gradually separated.Ouyang Xiu realized the unification of "Wen" and "Tao" by developing the movement of ancient prose and leading the reform of current prose."Wen" was based on clarify "Tao" and Tao's thought runs through the article and shows itself,which made the literary style of the Northern Song Dynasty mature.These literary views were inseparable from his Sutra thoughts.Ouyang Xiu's thoughts on Confucian classics and history opened up a new pattern for the study of Confucian classics in the Northern Song Dynasty.Through his interpretation of Confucian classics and sages' words,this paper tries to sort out his thoughts on Confucian classics and clarify his position in the development of Confucianism.Combining with his leadership role in the ancient prose movement and his achievements in stylistic innovation,the maturity of his literary style depends on the interpenetration of classical and historical outlook and literary ideas,emphasizing human feelings,caring for personnel and advocating the function of articles to reality,which are the prominent features of his literary and Tao's thoughts.In the introduction,This paper makes a summary of the research on Ouyang Xiu's thought of classics and Ouyang Xiu's articles,and analyses the innovative aspects of this article.There are three chapters in the text.The first chapter explains Ouyang Xiu's unique Confucian classics thought from doubting the origin of ancient Confucian classics,which transformed the study of Confucian classics in the Song Dynasty into the study of Confucian classics,interpreted Confucian classics in a realistic and human-based way,and applied the sage's thought of enlightenment and the concept of literary application to his creation.Firstly,he constructed a set of self-cultivation skills for perfecting the inner moral accomplishment of gentlemen,and established Confucianism's self-confidence in orthodox Confucianism for scholars and scholars.Confucianism was highly praised and developed by reshaping the connotation of "Tao" through sutras to guide political activities,care about real life and make the connotation of Tao encompass everything in life.In the second chapter,starting from the purport,style and refinement of the Spring and Autumn,the author expounds its writing characteristics as a Confucian classic,which is full of meaning in micro-words and invisible in direct writing.The sage's prudence in compiling history has a great influence on Ouyang Xiu's creation.In his compilation of History of the New Five Dynasties,he embodies the rigorous and unrealistic writing spirit,advocates the concise and legal writing method,and popularizes it to internalize this writing principle into literati accomplishment,which not only forms a simple,natural and smooth style of writing,but also changes the current style of writing.Chapter three emphasizes Ouyang Xiu's refutation of the weird thought of the superstition of prophecy and latitude in the classics and biographies.He tries to restore the historical facts on the basis of realistic human feelings,and applies the attitude of seeking truth to his literary creation.In the writing of biographies,epitaphs and other genres,Ouyang Xiu pays special attention to the truth of reason and realizes the practice of the truth of human feelings.
