As a bridge connecting two languages, translation not only makes a great contribution to the exchange between different cultures, but also allows people to better understand the world's outstanding figures.Throughout history, outstanding figures have emerged one after another, and the kung fu master Bruce Lee is one of them.As a well-known kung fu star across the world,Bruce Lee is undoubtedly the pride of the C.hinese.Moreover,his wonderful but short lif,e has aroused curiosity of-interested people all over the world. This dissertation is a translation project report. The author selects the biography Bruce Lee-A Life of the kung fu superstar Bruce Lee as the source text. The bioigrapher Matthew Polly introduced Bruce Lee's life-growing up from a rebellious teenager to an international kung fu superstar-in an objective and unbiased language. In this translation project report, the author elaborately illustrates all the stages of this translation project. In the process of translation, the author adopts Skopos theory as the theoretical basis of the translation practice, and explores the three major problems and their respective solutions under the guidance of three principles of Skopos theory, namely,Skopos Rule,Coherence Rule and Fidelity Rule. The three major problems are lexical translation, the translation of long and difficult sentences and rhetorical translation. For the translation of abstract words or culture-loaded words, the author spares no efforts to explore the practical meaning of the words and find their counterparts in the culture of the target language so as to pursue fluent and idiomatic translation. When translating long and difficult sentences, the author appropriately splits the sentences and slightly alter the sentence order, making the translation readable. For rhetorical translation, the author first tries to retain the original rhetorical devices and be faithful to the original text. When it is impossible topreserve the rhetorical devices, the actual meaning of the original text is fullyconveyed. In the translation project report, the author makes a preliminary attempt and detailed discussion on the translation of biography by resorting to concrete translation examples. At the same time, this biography translation objectively translates the life story of international kung fu star Bruce lee, which is conducive to promoting people's comprehensive understanding of the legendary Bruce Lee,arousing people s interest in Chinese martial arts, and also promoting cross-cultural communication.
