A Survey On English Learning Strategies Used By Six-grade Students In Primary School

The English learning strategy plays a pretty important role in English learning.In the National English Curriculum for Nine-year Compulsory Education(2011 edition),it is clearly proposed to strengthen the guidance of students' learning strategies,and stress the importance of improving learning effects by means of developing effective learning strategies in steps.It also shows that learning strategies are clearly defined and classified,and the grading standards of learning strategies in level 2 and level 5 are specifically elaborated.In this study,use Oxford learning strategy theory and Rogers "non-directive teaching" theory as the scale,and with 11 basic strategies putting forward by the "standard" as the backing,use the literature analysis,questionnaire investigation interview and observation methods to investigate X elementary school in city K sixth grade student's usage of learning strategies of the level 2,and put forward the corresponding improvement countermeasures.Based on the analysis of the survey data,the basic using situation of English learning strategies of grade 6 students are as follows: the strategies of cooperative learning,establishing the words with the corresponding association between things,focusing in the study and observing the life or the media strategy are used better,but there are some trouble in using the strategies of asking the teacher problems,actively planning and reviewing,positive thinking,doing extracurricular reading and using reference books.In view of the above problems,the following countermeasures are proposed: In terms of teacher-student relationship,we should be good at developing role-exchange classes between teachers and students,pay attention to the emotional exchange with students,encourage students mainly;in terms of learning habits,we should pay attention to training students to use metacognitive strategies,cultivate students to develop good reading habits,and cultivate students to use English dictionaries;in terms of class teaching,we should be good at setting questions and creating a good classroom atmosphere...
