Abstract/Summary:
In 2017,Ministry of Education officially promulgated The English Curriculum Standard for Senior High Schools(2017),which is the latest version of the English curriculum standard for senior high schools.The English curriculum standard for senior high schools(2017)is the general guideline for English teaching,and it plays an important directional role in English teaching of senior high school in the near future.According to the provisions of the new curriculum standards,reading teaching occupies an important position in the English teaching of senior high schools.It puts forward the comprehensive requirements for the teaching ideas and teaching methods of senior high school English teachers.But as a result of the study and implementation of new curriculum standard is shorter duration and the traditional examination-oriented education,English teachers still choose the traditional cramming method of teaching methods and concepts in the actual English reading teaching,which will undoubtedly impeded the formation of students’ learning strategies in English reading class,and affect the efficiency of English reading teaching.For foreign language learners,the cultivation of independent reading learning strategies is inseparable from the effective application of reading teaching strategies.In other words,teachers’ teaching strategies are the premise and basis for students to form effective learning strategies.Therefore,it will have significance for both theory and practice to study the application of strategies for English reading teaching in senior high schools in the context of the new curriculum standard.This paper by selecting a senior high school in G city as a case,and taking 31 English teachers as samples,investigates the application of English reading teaching strategies in high school under the background of new curriculum standards by means of questionnaire,interview with teachers and classroom observation.And it is found that strategies for English reading teaching in the senior high school can be used is generally good,but there are still some problems,such as some teachers failure to use the teaching strategies and use incorrectly.The paper based on the orientation and goal orientation problem,try to put forward to strengthen curriculum training,changing teaching concepts,optimizing teaching strategies(strategy of background penetration,penetration of reading strategy,schema construction strategy,contextual guidance strategies)andreforming teachers’ teaching evaluation method and other Suggestions for improvement,which is provide reference and help for senior English teachers,improve the teaching method of English reading,promote the development of students reading ability and improve the quality of reading teaching.
