The translated material of this translation practice report is an excerpt from Yoga for Surfing--Tips,Techniques,and Living the Flow State,including Chapter 1 “Beach Yoga Bliss” and Chapter 11 “SUP Yoga Magic”.The two chapters are written by Dashama Konah,the editor-in-chief of the book.The first chapter mainly presents the 15 asanas targeting the major areas of the body and the related content of yoga and surfing.The main contents of Chapter 11 are 8 SUP yoga poses and 5 advanced asanas for inspiration,the original author innovating in yoga and gaining the relevant life philosophy from yoga.And SUP yoga exerts the positive influences on people's physical and mental health as well as marine environmental protection.This translation practice report is divided into four parts: the translation task and process description,translation case analysis,and the summary of translation practice.The author briefly introduces the source,author,content and the great importance of the translation material.After reading and analyzing the original text,the author selects literal and free translation as translation methods,parataxis and hypotaxis as translation strategies,and paper and electronic dictionaries.On this basis,lining out the difficulties of the revision of the first draft,the author analyzes the typical translation cases of vocabulary,syntax and discourse.The cases are analyzed in terms of the unification of terms,transformation of part speech,and selection of word meaning at the lexical level,the translation of attributive clause,passive voice,and parenthesis at the syntactic level as well as the translation of parallelism at the textual level according to the context and coherence.The author reviews and polishes the revised the translation as well as modifies the practice report before the final version.In addition,in view of the problems encountered in the process of translation,the author summarizes the experience and enlightenment acquired of this translation practice.
