A Report On The E-C Translation Of Meeting Our Commitments To Gender Equality In Education(The First Part)

This is a practice report based on the translation of“Meeting Our Commitments to Gender Equality in Education ” that selects the first half of The 2018 Gender Review as the original text.The review's first part shows gender disparities in participation and skills,in education and political leadership position through data,charts,etc.so as to draw the audience's attention to such issues.Therefore,the review is not only authoritative,objective,but has a vocative function.The report is composed of four chapters.The first chapter is the introduction of the translation task,which introduces the significance of translating the text.The second chapter describes the translation processes which includes the preparation,the draft translations and proofreading.The third chapter focuses on translation case analysis.In the process of translation,translation skills such as changing negative sentences to positive sentences,voice conversion,addition and omission,and literal translation are used to highlight the characteristics of the original text and underline the vocative function of it.The fourth chapter summarizes the translation practice,analyzes the lessons gained from translation,and explains the remaining problems of the translation.After discussing the proofreading and revisions of the translation,the author analyzes the translation methods and summarizes the experience and lessons.In the process of translation,the author has not only enlarged the vocabulary,but also deepened the understanding of translation theory.At the beginning of the translation,the author didn't pay enough attention to details and sometimes even lost patience due to the length of the text.The entire translation process was once a huge challenge to the author.Through this translation practice,the author has learned the importance of maintaining a rigorous and calm working attitude in future work and study.
