The source text of this translation practice is extracted from Chapter 3 and Chapter 8 of Entrepreneurial Ecosystems: A Gender Perspective. As the key parts of the book, the two chapters introduce the framework under the gender perspective and the practical approach suggestions regard to this respectively. In Chapter 3,the authors study the entrepreneurial ecosystem of the current western capitalist society from the perspective of gender, focusing on the gendered mechanisms in it and pointing out the need to improve gender inclusion in entrepreneurship. In Chapter 8,aiming at achieving inclusive economic development, the authors put forward suggestions for solving gender inequality in entrepreneurship from the three aspects of individuals, organizations and societies. As the source text is argumentative, the language style and the logic tend to be formal and rigorous, and the transmission of information is emphasized in translation. In terms of the difficulties confronted in this translation practice,Professor Li Changshuan’s “CEA”framework is adopted to analyze the source text’s specific lexis, syntax, and discourse from the three aspects of comprehension, expression, and adaptation,to achieve effective reproduction of information under the target context. At the stage of comprehension, the translator looks up reference books, parallel texts and related authoritative sources to ensure an accurate and thorough understanding of formal words and terms in such fields as finance and entrepreneurship within the source text.As to the expression, based on the differences between English and Chinese and the need of conveying the original information faithfully, the translator solves the problems of Europeanized Chinese, adjusting syntactic structures, and ensuring textual cohesion and coherence. At the stage of adaptation,in order to realize the inter-cultural communication function of the text that the authors of the source text intend to achieve, that is,to provide new theoretical insights for the inclusive economic development of the world, the author adopts the method of addition and annotation to manifest the contextual information and cultural background information that cannot be translated literally.Besides, the translator adjusts the structures of certain words and phrases by transforming collocation and using four-character idioms so as to achieve the communicative function of the text.In this way,it is possible to reduce the cognitive costs of the target readers and improve the readability of the target text.By analyzing the translation methods used in this practice under the framework of “CEA,”the translator presents the whole analysis process distinctly and logically and ensures the translation quality to a certain extent. In this regard, this practice helps strengthen the translator’s capability of logic thinking in dealing with translation difficulties.Meanwhile, this practice can also provide some references for domestic gendered studies in entrepreneurship and inclusive economic development and serve as an example for the translation analysis of other types of texts under the framework of “CEA” in the future.
