Realism,as a creative technique, has been widely used in literature、painting、drama、film and other arts.Realism pursues authenticity、objectivity and sociality, which coincide with the recording essence of films.Since its birth,Chinese children’s films have paid attention to the close combination with real life and kept up with the pace of the times, striving to analyze social changes from the perspective of children. To create children’s films with realism as an artistic technique,it is necessary to pay close attention to the survival status of children, create diverse images of children from different social environments, and express criticism of social problems from the perspective of children. At present, there are few children’s films in China, which need to be improved in the strength and breadth of reflecting social reality. This paper focuses on how to apply realistic creation methods to the whole process of children’s film creation. The first part of the paper is the introduction, which defines the research object and related concepts, raises questions, and points out the significance of studying this issue. The second part of the paper focuses on the application of realism in children’s film creation from the perspectives of script writing、characterization、directing techniques and audio-visual language. The third part summarizes the creation experience of children’s films and forms the methodology. This paper attempts to summarize the methodological significance of realism in children’s film creation by citing classic Chinese children’s films, learning from excellent foreign children’s films and combining with the creation practice of the “Farewell,My brother”.
