With the development of China's foreign exchanges,academic exchanges in many fields have become increasingly frequent and extensive.Some universities often invite international scholars to have academic exchanges and information promotion.Consecutive interpreting,as one of the widely used interpreting methods,plays an important role in foreign exchanges.The thesis is a practice report on the author's consecutive interpreting for an American professor and students from School of Economics.The study,based on the interpreting practice on the spot,analyzes and teases out the author's advantages and disadvantages during the whole process of consecutive interpreting under the guidance of the tri-angular model of'the Interpretive Theory.The thesis analyzes the problems and phenomena arising in this practice and summarizes some factors that influence the quality of this consecutive interpreting,i.e.interpreter's bilingual competence,encyclopedic knowledge,note-taking,and psychological nervousness,etc.In the end,the author puts forward some relevant strategies:1)enhancing bilingual competence and expression ability,2)expanding knowledge,3)improving note-taking and memory ability,and 4)improving the ability of on-the-spot response.This consecutive interpreting practice,together with the study of the practice case with the Interpretive Theory is conducive to enhancing the interpreter's interpreting and thinking ability and lays a good foundation for the author's interpreting in the future.The strategies put forward in this thesis in the wake of the author's reflection on the practice will provide reference and enlightenment for other beginners in the field of interpreting.
