Globalization shows its influence in a variety of fields.Take education as an example, experts and scholars at home and abroad are often invited to give a lecture in colleges and universities to share their insights on some specific subjects, instructing the students and helping them dissipate doubts.Sometimes it inevitably goes under a bilingual context, therefore interpreting is greatly needed. This report aims at analyzing a mini-lecture interpreting practice.Under the guidance of interpreting dynamic RDA model put forward by Dr.Lai Yihua, this study analyzes the whole interpreting process for the mini-lecture delivered by Dr.Udbye of economics from America. The author is aimed to solve the problems existing in interpreting context, like misinterpretation and even omissions while interpreting. After detailed case study, the author finds that the problems existing in the case of interpreting are originated from three phases:listening comprehension, memorization and expression. In the wake of-making an analysis from multiple perspectives guided by three different theories of dynamic RDA model, the author figures out specific approaches for improvement. Finally, the author puts forward some strategies applicable to mini-lecture’s interpreting:1)improving listening comprehension skills, and reconstructing what is heard by applying the relevance theory flexibly in the listening procedure,2)trying to understand the meaning instead of the configuration of the original sentence by taking good advantage of note-taking,namely,neglecting the framework of source language,3)enhancing bilingual reading competence and oral expression. And making sure the interpretation goes with the context instead of merely word-for-word transformation, and 4)improving public speech skills so that an interpreter could easily make contact with audiences instead of being af-fected negatively by them. This study can add some case evidence to the study of the RDA model and also provide useful references for other novices in the field of informal speech like mini-lecture. |
