| This report is based on Chinese-English consecutive interpreting of an online minilecture for foreign students.The topic of the mini-lecture is ancient Chinese literature,including a brief introduction to The Book of Songs,Tang and Song Poetry,and Ming and Qing novels.Under the guidance of the Interpretive Theory,the interpreter completes the Chinese-English consecutive interpreting task,analyzes examples in three interpreting stages: comprehension,de-verbalization and reformulation,and summarizes several interpreting strategies.This report consists of five chapters.The first chapter is the task description,which introduces the task background,features of the mini-lecture and task requirements.The second chapter briefly describes the interpreting process,including preparations,interpreting as well as assessment and reflection.The third chapter gives an overview of the Interpretive Theory and then explains the triangular model.The fourth chapter is the main part of the report.Under the guidance of the triangular model of the Interpretive Theory,this chapter discusses six interpreting strategies with specific examples: repair,sentence restructuring,conversion of word classes,information supplement,omission and paraphrasing,fully expounding how Interpretive Theory guides the interpreter to solve the problems encountered in the interpreting process.The fifth chapter is the conclusion,which summarizes the experience and limitations of this interpreting practice,and puts forward some suggestions on interpreting practices related to Chinese culture. |
