In recent years,Chinese people's enthusiasm towards movies and TV dramas is amounting. The documentary,as an important and unique form of TV dramas, can more directly express emotions and spread information. In addition,as an important medium and tool in China's foreign relations, documentaries are playing a key role in spreading the Chinese cultures. The main idea of this thesis is a practice report on simulated C-E consecutive interpretation on the documentary Chinese Imaging of Local Chronicles:Unveiling Fusong of Jilin Province. The documentary centered on Fusong, which known as the “Hometown of Ginseng”.This naturally endowed divine grass——ginseng witnessed the ups and downs of the town, and contributed to the prosperity of the town today. The task of this practice report is to translate the documentary from Chinese to English, and find out the problems in the translating process.Due to the material selected as documentary, many collocations are with dense local characteristics. While interpreting requires accurate translation and quick response within five seconds, therefore adequate preparations need to be completed before interpretation.Through the analysis of the records of interpretation and the notes, the author finds the redundancy in interpretation and redundancy in note-taking,and finds out the reasons that attribute to these problems, that is,influences of source sentence structure and lack of systematic note-taking.Under the guidance of interpretive theory and Gile's Effort Model, the author comes up with relative resolutions: omission, information reconstruction and adjustment of note-taking.In this way,the author wishes to pay attention to the problems and avoid them in the future, and at the same time,to provide useful references to the future interpretation learners.
