| Yuan Zaju is the main literary style of Yuan Dynasty.It occupies an important place in the literary history of Yuan Dynasty.There are many themes in Yuan Zaju,and love and marriage drama is one of the most important ones in Yuan Zaju.The main form of marriage in Yuan Dynasty was betrothal marriage.Predatory marriage was different from formal engagement marriage,but it was widespread in Yuan Dynasty.This is mainly because the Mongolians brought about the bad habit of “plundering marriage”after they entered the Central Plains.The plundering marriage works in Yuan Zaju provide a new perspective for us to understand the barbaric marriage system of Yuan Dynasty.This paper will be based on Zang Mao-xun's Selections of Yuan Opera in Ming Dynasty and Sui Shusen's Selections of Yuan Opera in the present age.The author sorts out and classifies the works related to “plundering marriage”,and probes into the tragedy caused by “plundering marriage” and its causes.This paper will be divided into five parts for discussion.The first part mainly defines the concept of “plundering marriage”,sorts out the existence of “plundering marriage”works in Yuan Zaju.The second part mainly studies the representative works of plundering marriage scripts.The third part studies the predator.This paper introduces in detail the way and reason of the predator plundering women,the image of the predator and the result of the predator.The fourth part focuses on the analysis of the victims behind the “predatory marriage”.These victims include the looted women and their original husband,parents and children.The fifth part mainly analyses the thoughts expressed in the works of "plundering marriage" and the reasons for the prosperity of "plundering marriage" works.Unlike previous papers,they are limited to the analysis of the types of predatory marriages and their causes,this paper will explain the tragic implication of the plundering marriage from the persecution of the plunderers to the plundered women and their families. |
