Zaju of the Yuan Dynasty is a full theatrical form, which based upon the Zaju of Song and Jin Dynasties and is a dramatic art genre which incorporates the art of discourse, music, song and dance. It symbolizes not only that Chinese drama has developed into the mature art form, but also represents a peak in the classical drama history. As a mature drama, Zaju of the Yuan Dynasty is widely reflects the social reality at that time. Because of this, it is deeply loved by people.The resplendence of Zaju of the Yuan Dynasty in the special history of Yuan Dynast has much more connection with the conflict and mergence of central plain agriculture culture and steppe nomadic culture. Mongolia and other northern minorities's languages, music, dance, customs, politics and economic has obvious infection on the appearance and prosperity of Zaju of the Yuan Dynasty. The noticeable aspects are the pursuit of free love and admiration of sincere love between men and women, and so on. Meanwhile, there are many productions about the love and lives between prostitutes and scholar. These productions show sympathy and concerns to the fate of prostitutes and to lives of women in the lowest social level. Through the description style, we can see that these productions dare to break through the "orders of parents, the matchmaker's words," "it's improper for men and women to be too intimated," the shackles of feudal ethics, fully affirms the " passion " and "desiration", glorification of the young men and women for marriage and the pursuit of freedom privately combination and so on, with hearty restraint, bold lovable characteristics. In this paper, we take thecommunication of Han and Mongolia culture in Yuan Dynasty as the background, use comparative literature studies and ethnologic methods, analyze love and marriage in productions of Zaju of the Yuan Dynasty .We hope we can understand the specialties of drama of love-and- marriage in Zaju of the Yuan Dynasty, which are different from other similar literature.This thesis contains four chapters. The first chapter is the introduction. It introduces the purpose and significance for choosing this topic, reviews relevant studies of domestic and international situation. At the macro level, the second chapter analyzes and expounds the social background of historical and cultural to prosperity about Yuan drama ,while demonstrates the impact of Mongolian arts and culture from the micro perspective. The third chapter analyzes in great details about love between scholar and beauty in Zaju of the Yuan Dynasty, drama of young men and prostitute, drama of workwomen's love-and-marriage. The forth chapter is the conclusion, based on the aforementioned analysis, the author reiterates the purpose and significance of this article.
