Translation Report Of "Acid Fracture Engineering Design For X-well" Under The Guidance Of Translation Variation Theory

With the development of modern science and technology,science and technology English,which combines basic English with professional knowledge,is gradually emerging.As a kind of scientific and technological text,petroleum science and technology text has its special linguistic characteristics.It aims to describe the objective existence of things and phenomena in professional language,and to provide various professional scientific and technological knowledge for practitioners.In the context of globalization and energy crisis,exchanges and cooperation in the field of petroleum are getting closer and closer,as an important learning material for petroleum industry practitioners,the importance of petroleum science and technology text translation is becoming increasingly prominent.However,due to the differences between literary translation and scientific and technological translation,translation theories at home and abroad cannot be directly applied to the translation of scientific and technological texts.Translation essence of petroleum science and technology lies in the fast,simple and efficient transfer of information to keep up with the pace of technological development,and Translation Variation Theory proposed by Professor Huang Zhonglian is quite suitable for this kind of style.Based on the translation of the petroleum science and technology text " Acid Fracture Engineering Design for X-Well ",this paper,combining with Translation Variation Theory,analyses specific examples and explains the practicability of various translation method in petroleum science and technology English translation.This paper is a practical report on the Chinese-English translation of Acid Fracture Engineering Design for X-Well.Based on the analysis of the translation of Chinese and English texts,under the guidance of Translation Variation Theory,the basic translation strategies and coping skills of petroleum science and technology texts are preliminarily discussed,and some constructive suggestions are provided for such translation.This report consists of five parts.The first part mainly introduces the background significance of the translation report.The second part describes the translation process.The content,language style and structural features of the source text are analyzed,and the practical significance and innovation of the task are briefly stated.The third part introduces the preparation before translation,including petroleum background knowledge,translation tools,glossary creation and theoretical basis for the report.The fourth part,using Translation Variation Theory to guide translation practice,analyzes translation skills and strategies in terms of vocabulary and syntax.The fifth part is to summarize the deficiencies in the process of translation,the experience gained and the inspiration for future translation.Analysis and research show that Translation Variation Theory has great application value in petroleum science and technology stylistic translation.It is hoped that through the analysis and discussion of this translation practice,valuable information will be provided to the practitioners in the petroleum industry in China,and some help and reference will be offered to other translators.
