The adverb hái in Modern Chinese language has always been a key and difficult learning point for foreign students as a result of its ambiguity and complexity.Even though substantial progress have been made in the ontological study of hái,it is worth further research in the field of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language?TCFL?to promote and improve the quality.By reviewing the syllabus and textbooks of TCFL and analyzing the interlanguage corpora of advanced level foreign students,we found that their usage of hái can be divided into eight categories and they are as follows:-hái 1-repetitionhái 2-continuancehái 3-to add/to attachhái 4-degree is deeperhái 5-degree is lighthái 6-things happened early or fasthái 7-leading to extremehái 8-various moods caused by anti-expectation?ask in retort,astonished and dissatisfied?Based on the HSK Dynamic Composition Corpus,the utilization rate and accuracy acquisition order of hái has a certain spontaneity and limitations which we had to take into consideration.For further investigation,we also designed a questionnaire related to the eight categories of hái and conducted a survey among the advanced level students,and finally got another acquisition order of it.Through comparison and analysis,our find revealed that the two types of objective acquisition order are generally consistent.At the same time,the degree of difficulty in learning hái for advanced level students can be divided into four grades from easy,medium,difficult to very difficult:I)hái 2,hái 3ii)hái 1,hái 5,hái 6iii)hái 4,hái 8iv)hái 7Finally we have done the error analysis based on the corpus and the investigation results.With further study,the cause of the errors and misusing are presented below:1.the interference of the target language knowledge;2.influence of input frequency inequality;3.the improper arrangement of language points in the textbook.For these reasons,we put forward corresponding suggestions from two aspects of textbook writing and teacher's teaching.
