Frequency adverb is a special kind of Chinese adverb,which is easy to be ignored.Due to the similarities of frequency adverbs in syntactic function,semantic feature and pragmatic function,even intermediate and advanced international students have errors in using frequency adverbs.It is necessary to study frequency adverbs to improve the accuracy of language and fluency of expression of international students.Based on Chinese Level Vocabulary and Chinese Character Grade Outline,Chinese Language Teaching Syllabus for Foreign Students in Colleges and Universities,and HSK Dynamic Composition Corpus,four frequency adverbs of"changchang(常常),zongshi(总是),yizhi(一直)and conglai(从来)"are finally determined as the research objects.This paper combs the previous research results,defines frequency adverbs on this basis,discusses the necessity of separate classification of frequency adverbs,classifies frequency adverbs,and analyzes the characteristics of frequency adverbs as a whole.Then it makes a detailed study of the four frequency adverbs from the three levels of syntax,semantics and pragmatics,and analyzes the errors caused by middle and advanced international students by combining questionnaire survey and corpus,summarizes the four common error types of"disordering,misusage,omission and superfluous",and explores the causes of the errors.Finally,teaching suggestions are put forward from the perspectives of teachers,students and teaching materials. |
