| This paper is a report on the scientific text translation,which is about the study of cross-border innovation regions.The original text is “The Case of the Top Technology Region/Eindhoven-Leuven-Aachen Triangle(TTR-ELAt)”,and the whole text contains over 20,000 English words.The text translation project was launched to assist in the research of innovation cluster formation mechanism based on the evolutionary stage of innovation center,and the translation text was used as the reference material for a key project of the Soft Science Research of Shanghai Science and Technology Development Fund.This piece of material is conducive to the research and study of the current technological innovation regions.In this paper,the author makes a detailed analysis of the translation process,and mainly summarizes the difficulties encountered in the translation process,as well as the corresponding solutions through three parts.In terms of vocabulary translation,the author mainly discusses the unification of professional terms,the translation methods of abbreviations,and the application of various translation methods on other words.For the long sentences,the author analyzes three translation techniques of sentences in the text,namely the method of the same order,the method of reversing and the method of dividing,embedding and splitting.As long sentences are main features of this translation text,examples and analysis of long sentence translation skills are a core part of the translation process description.As for the translation of the whole text,this paper discusses several elements that translators should pay special attention to,such as coherence,faithfulness and appropriateness.Finally,the author points out that there is never an optimal translation for such scientific and academic texts,but only the one that is infinitely close to the original text.Therefore,the translator should summarize the difficulties in the translation process,and make continuous modifications and improvements accordingly. |
