A Study On Application Of Jigsaw In English Reading Teaching In Junior High School

With the reform of new curriculum standard,cooperative ability has been one of the most important abilities for students,so cooperative teaching is advocated as an indispensable teaching method.At the same time,reading is regarded as a vital skill for students,so English reading teaching plays a decisive role in English teaching.While Jigsaw mode,as an effective cooperation mode,is widely applied in English teaching.Therefore,the researcher takes the Jigsaw mode as the research objective,mainly studying the effectiveness of Jigsaw mode in English reading teaching in junior high school.Two research questions are discussed as follows:(1)What are the effects of Jigsaw mode on students' reading proficiency?(2)What are the changes of students' attitudes and interest to English reading after the application of Jigsaw mode?Two classes were selected as experimental class and control class respectively.A total of 80 students participated in this study.In the research process,Jigsaw mode was adopted in the experimental class,while traditional reading teaching mode was adopted in the control class.The study lasted for three months.Questionnaires,interviews and tests were used as instruments to collect data.After three months' experiment,and through deep analysis,the major findings are presented as following:(1)Jigsaw teaching mode has a positive impact on the English reading of junior high school students,and it can effectively improve thereading effectiveness of junior high school students and improve their reading proficiency.(2)Jigsaw teaching mode is beneficial to change students' attitudes and improve the interest of junior high school students in English reading.In the end,the researcher puts forward some suggestions based on the findings,which targets at improving the teaching efficiency of reading,and thus promotes students' interest in English reading.
