In this paper,the author has analyzed the current situation of the current secondary vocational English vocabulary teaching and culture teaching,and discussed the relationship between vocabulary teaching and culture.This paper is suitable for secondary vocational students’ vocabulary teaching principle,content and methods;Basing on the semantic field theory and pragmatic situational teaching theory,combining with the affective filter hypothesis of second language acquisition and cross-culture knowledge,the author adopts action research to study the current secondary vocational English vocabulary teaching from the perspective of cultural import and tries to explore a suitable vocabulary teaching mode and strategies for the secondary vocational student’s learning to cultivate the students’ interest in learning English,to improve the ability of cross-cultural communication,and to promote the English teaching of vocational school as well.At the same time,the author aims to lay the foundation of certain language culture for being a skilled person.The author attempts to discuss the following questions by using the method of action research:(1)Whether we can arouse the interest of secondary vocational students in English learning by refining and integrating the vocabulary in the textbook as the new vocabulary teaching mode which integrating vocabulary and culture?(2)Whether the vocabulary teaching mode can improve the students’ cross-cultural awareness at the same time?This study adopts the action research method to carry on the practice research.The specific research methods are: classroom observation,questionnaire and interview.The author has based on the two dimensions of cross-cultural awareness training in three levels according to four principles and has combined with the semantic field theory,situational teaching method and integrated vocabulary into thematic vocabulary model for teaching..In every subject in the process of vocabulary teaching follows: to show(sound)─ to compare(meaning)─ story making or situation acting(using)the three-step strategy,pragmatic situation creation strategy and practical experience strategy to realize the cultivation of cross-cultural awareness at the cognitive level,the emotional level and the behavioral level.As a result,this can achieve vocabulary learning with the purpose of enhancing cross-cultural consciousness together.Through the teaching process,it can improve the students’ interest in English vocabulary learning,extend the connotation of words and cultivate their cultural awareness of the target language at the same time.Through the comparison between Chinese and western culture and practice,it can enhance their ability of cross-cultural action.Through action research results the author found that first,based on cross cultural awareness training in English vocabulary teaching model,it can stimulate students’ interest in English learning and motivation,arouse the enthusiasm of learners’ vocabulary learning and improve the disadvantages of traditional vocabulary teaching.Second,the way of vocabulary teaching which through the comparison between Chinese and western culture in learning,situation or context of story writing,or shows is suitable for secondary vocational student learning characteristics.It can not only improve the effectiveness of vocabulary teaching,but also cultivate their cross-cultural awareness.Third,the vocabulary teaching is only a small part of the language teaching,it cannot be isolated from the other processes of language learning.Through the research,the following enlightenment are obtained:(1)the vocabulary mode should follow the four principles: the student-centered teaching principle,combining-Chinese-and-western culture principle,language-and-culture-integrity principle and the gradual-progress principle to make the teaching design.(2)the vocabulary teaching model is based on the three levels of cross-cultural awareness: cognition,emotion and action to design,so we cannot regurgitated in all of the vocabulary teaching.Moreover we can’t completely negate the traditional vocabulary teaching methods,we should combine both in order to obtain the best teaching effect. |
