From the perspective of positive psychology, this study explores the relationship between rumination and mental health through questionnaires for Vocational College students, and carries out a positive rumination group counseling to study its effect on mental health and attention bias. The relationship between rumination and mental health was investigated of a sample of 350 freshmen by using Rumination Scale,Self-esteem Scale,Depression Anxiety Scale,Positive and Negative Emotion Scale and Life Orientation Scale in the first part of the study.32 students with low mental health were selected from 2275 freshmen(16 students in the experimental group and 16 students in the control group)to be given eight times positive rumination group counseling for a period of one and a half months to explore their effects by using SCL-90 Scale and Self-esteem Scale in the second part of the study. Then to explored whether the attentional bias had changed after positive rumination group counseling through spatial cue task paradigm by using emotional pictures and emotional vocabulary as experimental materials. The main conclusions are as follows:1.There is a significant correlation between mental health and rumination.Positve rumination is positively correlated with positive indicators of mental health such as"sel f-esteem" and "positive emotion",negatively correlated with negative indicators of mental health such as"depression",anxiety","pessimism" and "negative emotion".Negative rumination is negatively correlated with "self-esteem" and "positive emotion",and is positively correlated with depression","anxiety","pessimism" and "negative emotion".2.Positive rumination group counseling can improve positive rumination, reduce negative rumination, and improve mental health, including improving indicators such as"self-esteem","positive emotions",and reducing" depression","anxiety","pessimism"and"negative emotion".3.Positive rumination group counseling can affect attention bias.Result shows that the level of attention alertness to negative stimuli decreased significantly after the counseling.
