| As one of the five basic skills in English,reading is very important,which plays an important role in middle school English.In college entrance exam,reading can be the most important.So,English teachers are trying their best to improve their teaching skills so that students’ reading scores can be improved.Problem-based Learning(PBL)is said to be an effective way in English reading teaching,which focuses on problem solving so that students can acquire knowledge through this process.This thesis puts emphasis on the application of PBL in English reading teaching,and tries to find out the effect of PBL in English reading teaching.This thesis focuses on the application of PBL in senior English reading teaching,and there are three research questions: 1)What’s the current situation of PBL in senior high school English reading teaching? 2)In senior high school English reading teaching,how should the teachers use PBL? 3)Will PBL be helpful for students to improve their reading scores?In order to find out the answers to the three questions,the research will be based on the theories of PBL and Cooperative Language Learning,and focuses on the teachers and students in Grade1 of Chongqing Liangping high school.The researcher will use the methods of interviewing,testing,class observation,case analysis and questionnaire.Before the research,the researcher collect related documents,and analyze them.During the research,the researcher interview some teachers and students to check the current situation of application of PBL in English class.Also,the researcher observe the real class in the method of PBL.Besides,the researcher test the students twice to check the effect of PBL for improving students’ scores in English reading.After the research,the researcher use questionnaire to check some misunderstanding of PBL in order to improve the application skills of PBL in English reading teaching.From this thesis,a conclusion can be drawn that PBL method has its advantage over traditional teaching method.PBL will help students a lot in improving their readingscores as long as teachers use this method in an effective way.Therefore,English teachers can pay more attention to the application of PBL in English reading teaching in their further teaching. |
