Can the style be translated? This has always been a hot topic in the translation circle.The point of contention is that different languages and cultures and the author’s personal style have always been regarded as abstract,unable to be expressed in representational way,so that the style cannot be translated.However,according to Liu miqing’s stylistic markers theory,the style can be translated.Development on the basis of markedness theory,he believed that language can be divided into form markers and non-formal markers.From concrete to abstract,he provided a theory system of the translation for literary works,and the methods which can identify and analyze the style of literature systematically as well.Through an all-round analysis of the translation problems of the original language style in literary translation,the author summarizes the method to conduct the style translation and evaluation criteria which mainly focus on Corresponding,Recasting and Decoloring according to Liu Miqing’s translation methodologies.Author translated the first two chapters of this short science fiction — The Man Who Chasing the Sun,further summarized the processing methods and reasons of the science fiction translation in different situations and provided some reference for future science fiction translation.This translation practice report is divided into six parts.The first part is the description of the task.It mainly introduces the background of the work,the reasons for selection,and the textual features of science fiction.In this section,author describes in detail the main textual features of the selected text,such as the use of scientific and technical terms,monologue phrases and synaesthetic techniques.The second part is the task process,which explains in detail the preliminary preparation,middle-term translation and post-translation proofreading.The third part is the literature review,mainly through the translation of academic materials on the current status of science fiction translation research.The fourth part is the theoretical basis,mainly expounding the theoretical system of Mr.Liu Miqing’s Stylistic Markers Theory and its translation methodology.The fifth part analysis the case in depth through the corresponding,recasting and decoloring method to see how to reproduce the text features of science fiction literature according to the various elements of style translation theory.The duplicate words,homophonic words,parallel sentences,non-subject sentences and multiple rhetorical devices contribute to the style of the original text.How to transfer these Chinese culture attributes to western readers is the key point for study.The sixth part summarizes the experience gained in this translation practice.
