Educational thought is a kind of cognition and understanding of educational activities,so educational thought on fine arts can be regarded as a kind of cognition and understanding of art educational activities.The purpose of summing up educational thought on fine arts is to better guide art educational activities,so as to promote the practice of modern art education.The reason why Huang Binhong can be recognized and praised by the public is mainly because of the artistic influence of his landscape paintings.In fact,he has made a deep research in the fields of epigraphy,art history,poetics,pedagogy,philology,collation and publication of ancient books,etc..He is not only a great painter,but also an educator who has been engaged in art education for a long time.Concerning the fine arts,his unique teaching methods and educational philosophy,which echos with the ideas of modern art education,have trained a large number of excellent artists and educationists in our country.Therefore,it is necessary for us to study the educational thought on fine arts.Huang Binhong’s educational thought on fine arts are mainly reflected in his articles,manuscripts and others’ comments.By consulting a large amount of information,the author has summarized Huang Binhong’s educational thought on fine arts as five aspects,namely,learning from the ancients,studying the outside nature,advocating morality and knowledge,highlighting brushstroke techniques,and valuing internal beauty,which are the true embodiment of being a model for others and cultivating a person’s moral character.In the turbulent times of the Chinese and Western cultures,Huang Binhong has always stood on the cornerstone of the national culture,thought rationally about the Chinese and Western cultures,and put forward the artistic concept of the great harmony between Chinese and Western Paintings.On the basis of refined researches,he adheres to the theory of old tradition takes on new meanings,advocates that the reform of Chinese paintings should be searched from its own cultural gene,and absorbs foreign culture in a rational manner.The teaching method of Chinese painting by combining traditional humanistic education thought and modern educational system together that he is standing for,is a route of sustainable development with nationality.At present,China’s education of fine arts has been moving more and more steadily towards the people-centered culture and humanistic spirit.The most important value of studying and discussing Huang Binhong’s educational thought on fine arts lies in that,the humanistic spirit contained in his educational thought is adapted to the concept of humanistic education under the background of modern education.In today,when more emphasis is put on inheritance and innovation,we can not only clarify the historical changes of modern art education,but also help us find something more suitable for the development of modern art education in our country,and carry forward our national culture.
