An Interrogation Interpreting Report

Based on two interrogation interpreting tasks for Anti-smuggling Bureau of Guangzhou Customs,this report aims to analyze roles that interpreters play in interrogation interpreting.The purpose of this report is to improve the interpreter’s interpreting skills and offer references for other interpreters.This report introduces features of interrogation interpreting and the whole process of interpreting tasks.The report consists of five chapters.Chapter one introduces background,tasks and features of interrogation interpreting.Chapter two describes pre-task preparation including information about the case,glossary building and emergency plans.Chapter three presents post-task assessment from both customer and interpreter.Chapter four introduces the interpreting process,difficulties during the process and discusses interpreter’s roles in interrogation interpreting.The last chapter is conclusion of this report.Through analyzing real cases,this report enables the author to have a better view of interpreter’s roles in interrogation interpreting and may benefit future interrogation interpreters.
