The Organization And Word Research On The Late Tang Dynasty Epitaphs From The New Epitaphs Searching Continuation Of Qin Jin Yu

Most of the tomb owners in the late Tang Dynasty from The New Epitaphs Searching Continuation of Qin Jin Yu were local bureaucrats or civilians not included in the history books,and there were also famous figures in the late Tang Dynasty.For example,the late Tang writer Li Yuzhong,the late Tang poet Li Qian,the Ministry of War Fu Che during the Tang Wuzong period,the Ministry of Industry Li Dan and his wife Han's during the Tang Yizong period,Bai Juyi's male offspring Bai Bangyan,eunuch Wei Julun and so on.Their epitaphs were eloquent and the materials were authentic and reliable which provides valuable materials for the study of history,culture and language.In addition,these epitaphs' materials can also be used to study social and cultural phenomena in the late Tang Dynasty.In terms of linguistic vocabulary,the late Tang Dynasty is an important period because of itforms a connecting link betweenearly and late stage.The epitaphs of the late Tang dynasty have important research valueon account of having both the traces of Middle Chinese language and the characteristics of the transition to modern Chinese.Through investigating and researching current status of frontier study,we collected special research on the words of family and female,aiming at demonstrating the characteristics of the use of the language and the development of Chinese vocabulary in one aspect,and providing references and supports for the study of Middle Chinese vocabulary and Chinese vocabulary history.Based on the scientific interpretation of The Late Tang Dynasty Epitaphs from The New Epitaphs Searching Continuation of Qin Jin Yu,such as accurate interpretation,scientific collation,and essential annotations,the paper conducts thematic research on the following ideas:firstly,to define the research object of words,to sum up the selection criteria of the words,to select the family style words and female words one by one;secondly,to describe the basic appearance of the words and to interpret the meaning of words;thirdly,to explore the methods and characteristics of word creation;fourthly,summarize methods and characteristics of wordformation;fifthly,study the semantic features of words;finally,study the cultural connotation of words.Through these studies,we can fully understand the production methods,structural rules,semantic features,cultural significance and vocabulary history values of late Tang's family style words and female words.This article is mainly divided into three parts which are introduction,corpus and words' research.The first part is the first chapterintroduction which mainly includes the overview of research materials,research significance,research status,research ideas and methods.The second part is the second chapter epitaph collation and annotation.In this part we interpret and collate epitaphs.We discussrelationship between wordsand phrases in the valuable variant words and difficult wordsin the font evolution and its constituent resons;and research the valuable names,geography,officials,history and cultural customs appearing in the epitaphs are discussed.The third part is words' research.This part is the subject of this article which including the third chapter of the study of the family style words and the fourth chapter of the study of female words.It focuses on the selection of words that have different meanings in the ancient and modern,allusions words,and new words to be examined and analyzed.We collect fifty one family style words and one hundred and sixty-three female words.Family style words and female words are all based on polysyllabic words.The word-making method is mainly based on the semantic regeneration method,and the word-building method is mainly based on parallelism.The paper comprehensively uses the knowledge of inscriptions,philology,linguistics,and other disciplines to organize the late Tang Dynasty Epitaphs from The New Epitaphs Searching Continuation of Qin Jin Yu,which has certain practical reference value for the follow-up inscriptions.Based on the systematicness of vocabulary,researching family style and female vocabulary from the perspectives of word meaning,lexical construction,word formation,and semantics,and focusing on synchronic aspects,combining linguistic research with time,has certain significance in the exploration of Chinese vocabulary theory.
